Ubisoft is planning a major future for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, with several new projects scheduled through 2026 and beyond. While recent titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the in development Codename Hexe and Codename INVICTUS continue to push the series forward, one rumored project has had fans especially excited: a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, reportedly titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

For many players, Black Flag remains one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. Originally released in 2013, the game stood out thanks to its pirate setting, massive Caribbean open world, and naval combat system that allowed players to command their own ship while exploring islands, hunting treasure, and battling rival fleets.

A Modern Remake of a Fan Favorite

Recent leaks suggest Ubisoft may be developing a full remake rather than a simple remaster of Black Flag. Reports indicate that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced could feature modern graphics, improved combat systems, and expanded environmental detail.

If true, this would bring Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure to modern hardware with gameplay systems that align more closely with the series’ recent entries.

A remake also makes sense as part of Ubisoft’s broader strategy to revisit some of the franchise’s most popular settings while introducing them to new audiences.

Other Assassin’s Creed Projects in Development

The Black Flag remake is just one piece of Ubisoft’s larger roadmap for the series.

Several other projects are currently in development, including:

Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Previously known as Codename Red, this upcoming entry will take players to feudal Japan and continue the RPG-style gameplay introduced in Origins and Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe – A darker and more mysterious project rumored to focus on the European witch trials.

Assassin’s Creed Invictus – A multiplayer-focused project that could bring competitive gameplay back to the series.

Ubisoft is also expanding the franchise onto mobile platforms with Assassin’s Creed Jade, set in ancient China.

Why Black Flag’s Return Matters

Among all these projects, Black Flag Resynced may carry the most nostalgia for longtime fans.

The original game captured the fantasy of being a pirate better than almost any other title, combining naval battles, island exploration, and memorable characters into one of the franchise’s most unique experiences.

If Ubisoft truly rebuilds the game from the ground up, Black Flag Resynced could become one of the most exciting Assassin’s Creed releases of the next few years—and a perfect way to revisit one of the series’ best adventures.
