Pokémon Day 2026 kicked off massive celebrations for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, with new trailers, release windows, and expansive future plans revealed during today’s Pokémon Presents showcase. The event was packed with surprises — from the first look at the next generation of core games to updates on titles already on the horizon.

Here’s what stood out most.

Generation 10 Unveiled — Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves

The biggest headline from today’s presentation was the official reveal of Generation 10 of the Pokémon RPG series: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.

Set in a vibrant, tropical island-inspired region, these next-generation core games are being developed for Nintendo Switch 2 and are currently slated for release in 2027. The reveal trailer introduced the three new starter Pokémon — Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua — and teased rich environments that blend open-world exploration with classic Pokémon progression.

This marks the next evolution of the mainline franchise, building on recent innovations like Scarlet & Violet while expanding into lush new territories that promise a fresh era of adventure.

Pokémon Pokopia Nears Launch — March 5, 2026

Although it wasn’t a brand-new announcement at today’s showcase, Pokémon Pokopia got additional spotlight attention. Originally revealed in late 2025, Pokopia is a Animal Crossing-like Pokémon game launching for Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5, 2026.

In Pokopia, players take on the role of a Ditto transformed into a human, tasked with building and populating a paradise where humans and Pokémon once lived side by side. The game blends crafting, building, and peaceful exploration as you befriend Pokémon through environmental design and resource management rather than traditional battling.

IGN and other outlets highlighted how this cozy, life-sim experience has been gaining buzz all year, positioning Pokopia as one of the more intriguing Pokémon spin-offs heading into 2026.

30th Anniversary Highlights Across the Franchise

Today’s presentation also featured a host of additional content tied to the anniversary celebration — including updates to ongoing Pokémon titles and releases across mobile, console, and competitive play.

Some key highlights included:

  • New events and additions in Pokémon UNITE, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Café ReMix

  • Competitive season details and expansions surrounding the Pokémon World Championships

  • Updates on DLC and expansions for recent titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A

  • Several smaller app and merchandise announcements celebrating 30 years of Pokémon history
