Microsoft’s gaming division may be preparing to reveal the future of Xbox hardware. In a new social media post, Xbox’s recently appointed CEO hinted at the company’s next-generation console, currently operating under the codename Project Helix.
According to the post, the executive spent the morning with Team Xbox discussing the company’s renewed commitment to the platform and the roadmap for its next console. Project Helix is described as the codename for the upcoming generation of Xbox hardware and is expected to focus heavily on performance.
The message also emphasized platform flexibility. The next Xbox is expected to support both Xbox and PC games, suggesting Microsoft will continue leaning into its ecosystem approach—allowing players to move seamlessly between console and PC libraries.
More details may be coming soon. The CEO noted that she looks forward to discussing the project with partners and studios at next week’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), one of the gaming industry’s largest annual gatherings.
While Microsoft has yet to formally unveil the hardware or announce a release window, the mention of Project Helix signals that development on the next Xbox generation is well underway.
For now, fans will be watching closely to see if GDC brings the first real glimpse of what the next Xbox will look like.
